WHAT IS MONOTHON2011?
The CCP 13th annual marathon of monotype printing starts with printing sessions, an opportunity for artists to work with master printers in art-intensive, five-hour sessions to create original monotypes. This year, Artists' Printing Sessions were held from October 16 through 22, a Youth Monothon took place October 23, and printing sessions ended with the Outreach Monothon for Briggs High School students on October 24.

WHAT IS A MONOTYPE?
Monotype prints are made by drawing or painting with ink directly onto a printing plate. The plate is placed in contact with paper and run through a printing press, producing a one-of-a-kind print.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A PRINTING SESSION?
Each MONOTHON artist is assisted by a Master Printer and a Press Assistant. All materials are provided; artists may create up to ten prints during each session.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PRINTING SESSION?
At the end of each session, one print from each artist is selected for exhibition and sale at the MONOTHON2011 Auction and Party, the celebration that is the culmination of the monotype marathon. The artist retains her/his remaining prints. Prints chosen for exhibition and sale become the property of the Center for Contemporary Printmaking. All proceeds from MONOTHON2011 (printing sessions and auction) support CCP’s programs and activities. The Center for Contemporary Printmaking is a nonprofit workshop and gallery recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c) (3) organization.

The CCP mission is to support, preserve, and advance the art of original prints.

ART ABOUT TOWN

The Westport Downtown Merchants Association invites you to an inspired new event this spring, ART ABOUT TOWN.

Original, affordable and obtainable are the keys to ART ABOUT TOWN. All works will be juried by local experts and will be for sale. ART ABOUT TOWN will bring original artwork to store windows, turning the Westport shopping district into one continuous gallery for you to stroll along and enjoy. Julie Headland's work will be featured in Eileen Fisher.

ART ABOUT TOWN begins with a festive Opening Night Celebration on Thursday May 26th from 5:30-8:00 pm when Main Street will be filled with entertainment and refreshments and participating businesses will have some surprises in store as well. The exhibit will remain in stores through Sunday June 26th.

A juried exhibition of original prints from around the globe measuring four square inches (25.8 square cm) or smaller. Juror: Judith K. Brodsky, Founder of the Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Center for Contemporary Printmaking is the only nonprofit organization between New York City  and Boston solely dedicated to the art of the print, including printmaking, papermaking, book arts,  digital processes, and related disciplines.

ART TO THE AVENUE 2011 – A FOURTEEN YEAR TRADITION

Art to the Avenue, the Greenwich Arts Council’s annual spring celebration,

turns downtown Greenwich into a strolling art gallery

that brings works of art to store windows throughout the month of May.

In recent years, Art to the Avenue has grown to include many

“Off Avenue” community locations as well,

that extend the reach of the downtown exhibitions.
